Midgardsormen is a colossal sea monster from Norse mythology. He's another son of the god Loki, and similar to his half-brother, Fenrisulfr, grew to abnormal proportions. He in fact grew so large that he wrapped entirely around Midgard (the world of humans) and locked his jaws onto its own tail to keep the world from crumbling. Once Midgardsormen lets go of its tail, Ragnarök, the end of the world will be set in motion and he'll be destined to fight to the death with Thor, killing eachother in the end. (Spoiler alert...)
